Q. Veneers

You can think of a porcelain veneer a lot like a contact lens, but for your teeth!

Did you know that veneers started their journey in 1928 with the first acyrlic resin veneers made by Charles Pincus for Hollywood actors?

Veneers can be made from porcelain or composite resin. The porcelain material is much stronger and gives the most natural-looking results. They often last a lifetime, if properly cared for.

Composite veneers are made from the same material as fillings. They can still look very natural and typically last up to 10 years before needing to be replaced. This cosmetic solution is incredibly versatile and long-lasting.

We use veneers for closing spaces between the teeth, restoring broken, chipped, misshapen or crooked teeth, restoring unsightly, stained or washed out fillings, covering permanently stained or discoloured teeth, straightening your smile. In many cases anesthesia is not required since we remove only half to one millimeter of the outer layer of the tooth.

If you’re ready to put your best smile forward, it’s time to consider veneers. Don't settle for a smile that doesn't make you feel amazing! Confidence in your smile changes everything. We craft gorgeous, natural-looking veneers using high-tech artistry.

Q. Why did porcelain laminate veneers became so popular?

They are very conservative with dental tissue and in most cases do not require subgingival preperations.

Even though porcelain laminate veneers are extremely thin and breakable, due to the low flexural strenght of the ceramic, the tooth-veneer complex is extremely resistant over time.

They reproduce the natural teeth almost perfectly, due optical properties of cintered ceramic.

Provide very stable results over time without chromatic changes which makes them economic in that way in the long run.

Q. Are veneers right for me?

Veneers are thin, tooth-shaped dental prostheses made of porcelain, and they are designed to cover up the front chewing surfaces of your teeth. By doing so, veneers can hide a wide variety of cosmetic flaws including stained, crooked, uneven, misshapen, or gapped teeth. Veneers are very versatile and have a long lifespan of 15+ years. They are also minimally invasive, which makes them an ideal option if you want to improve the appearance of your smile without extensive treatment.

Q. How does caring for veneers differ from my normal routine?

Porcelain veneers should look and feel as natural as your teeth. This means you can brush, floss, and eat all of the foods you love.

Q. What part of my smile can veneers correct?

Veneers are a great solution to treat teeth that are chipped, worn down, different lengths, crooked, stained, and dark or eroded. By changing the shape and length of your teeth, we can also change the fullness of your smile.

Q. How do you keep veneers looking natural?

We pay close attention to your facial features, shape, and color of your teeth. We sometimes add imperfections intto the work to make it feel more natural. We also partner with a top ceramicist who is a master of adding translucency and texture to the veneers

Q. How many veneers will i need to get?

Your teeth are unique, and the number of porcelain veneers you’ll need will depend on how you want to see your teeth transformed. Veneers are usually done symmetrically. In other words, if you have a porcelain veneer on one tooth on the left side of your mouth, you’ll usually also want a porcelain veneer on the same tooth on the right side of your mouth. That means veneers for your teeth usually come in even numbers, like eight or ten.

Q. Do veneers protect teeth from cavities?

Veneers are affixed only to the front surface of teeth. The portion of the tooth that is covered is somewhat protected from tooth decay. However, the sides and back of the tooth or teeth are not covered by the veneer so they can still develop cavities. It is important to practice good oral hygiene after porcelain veneer treatment to decrease this risk.

Q. What can you not eat with veneers?

Although porcelain is strong, it can still be damaged. Patients with porcelain veneers are encouraged to avoid chewing on hard objects such as ice and hard candies. Chewy candies may also be somewhat risky because the chewing motion may cause excessive strain on veneers, posing a risk of popping off. Some studies also suggest that alcohol can degrade the bonding material that holds veneers to teeth. Therefore, it is wise to limit alcohol consumption

Q. Can i drink coffee with veneers?

One of the advantages of porcelain veneers is that this material is a bit more stain resistant than natural enamel. This is because porcelain is nonporous, so there are no tiny tubules into which debris can settle. Patients may enjoy coffee, tea, red wine, and other foods and beverages that are known to stain teeth. Keep in mind that these substances can stain enamel. If a natural tooth sits next to a tooth that has a veneer, the natural tooth will likely become dull and discolored over time compared to the veneer. Also, frequent consumption of stain-causing substances could cause darkening to develop at the margins of veneers, where porcelain meets enamel. This is a relatively uncommon risk that can be minimized by rinsing the mouth after consuming beverages like coffee and tea.
